Wigan have released five players, including Chile international Jean Beausejour and Scottish left-back Stephen Crainey.

Midfielder Beausejour, who scored Chile's third goal in their 3-1 win against Group B rivals Australia in Cuiaba on June 13, plus defenders Crainey, Markus Holgersson, Jordan Mustoe and Adam Buxton are all set to leave the DW Stadium.

A brief club statement read: "Wigan Athletic can confirm officially that the contracts of Jean Beausejour, Stephen Crainey, Markus Holgersson, Jordan Mustoe and Adam Buxton all expired at the end of June 2014.

"All of these players, with the exception of Adam Buxton, played for the first team to varying degrees and the club would like to place on record its thanks for their contribution."
