Transfer News: Metz criticise West Ham regarding deal for Diafra Sakho

Metz have accused West Ham United of a ‘lack of respect’ regarding the Premier League club’s interest in striker Diafra Sakho.

Ligue 2 champions Metz left Sakho out of Saturday’s 0-0 draw away to Lille in their first game back in the top flight in order for the 24-year-old to have a medical with West Ham.

However, Metz have claimed that West Ham have changed the terms of their offer and now want to sign Sakho on loan, with a view to a permanent deal.

A statement from Metz read: “The English club unilaterally decided to propose a loan deal with an option to purchase, instead of a permanent deal, which does not correspond to FC Metz’s expectations and contradicts all the terms that had been agreed last week between the two clubs.

“FC Metz regret this clear lack of respect, which is unacceptable, from West Ham towards FC Metz and also the player.

“As a result, FC Metz reserve the right to approach the international sport court and assert their rights and defend their interests.

“FC Metz had released Diafra Sakho from his professional duties during matchday 1 of the Ligue 1 championship by giving him leave to take a medical in England to complete the last stage of the deal.”

Sakho scored 20 goals in 37 games last season to help Metz to promotion and he had also been linked with a move to Newcastle United earlier this summer.
