Middlesbrough are hoping to have Spanish defender Damia Abella available for their Yorkshire derby with Leeds on Saturday.

A deal with Osasuna was agreed last week and Abella is closing in on a two-year contract at the Riverside, and Boro boss Aitor Karanka is hopeful of having the 32-year-old available this weekend.

"Damia is practically done, it is just the last details we are going through now," said Karanka.

“But he wants to play, he’s excited to play, and we’ll have to wait and see."

Boro are continuing talks with Chelsea over a number of loan deals, with the most pressing being Patrick Bamford.

"Bamford is one of the names we are working on. The club knows the players who I want, and they are working on bringing them on their way," Karanka said.
