Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says the club have held discussions with Barcelona youngster Adama Traore.
Hughes already has four former Nou Camp players in his squad in Marc Muniesa, Bojan Krkic, Moha El Ouriachi and Ibrahim Afellay.
The Potters boss is looking to reunite the 19-year-old winger, who came through Barcelona’s famous La Masia youth set-up, with his former team-mates but admits it is an ongoing process.
“He is somebody we have had discussions with but there has been no progress on that front yet,” Hughes said.
However, Hughes will have been encouraged after Barcelona’s technical secretary Robert Fernandez said Traore might leave the club due to competition for places.
He said: “He’s a magnificent player but due to certain circumstances he hasn’t managed to find a place in the first team. He might leave.”
Stoke host Liverpool on Sunday in their Premier League opener.
