Latest under our scout's gaze is Ajax youngster Christian Eriksen - recommended by Sky Sports reader Daniel Roughley.

The scout reports...

2010 has already been a big year for Eriksen. Having been handed his Ajax debut in January, just two months later he was player for Denmark. Now the scout investigates how good the young Dane is. Eriksen began his playing career with his hometown club Middlefart, before he was snapped up by OB Odense. At OB, Eriksen shone for their youth side and was soon incorporated into Denmark's youth set-up. Whilst playing for his country, Eriksen first began to catch the eye of some of Europe's big clubs with scouts impressed with his technical ability. In 2008, both Chelsea and Barcelona made offers to take him on trial - but Ajax moved to snap him up and agreed a deal with OB. Once in Holland, in Ajax's famed youth academy, Eriksen's development has continued to burgeon and he was soon becoming the star of the Dutch side's youth selection. Martin Jol soon spotted Eriksen's talent and just over six months into his tenure he has handed the 18-year-old his debut, and he is now very much part of their first-team plans. Eriksen is slight in size, but he is still growing and that does not look a major worry at all - given his outstanding skills. A real rarity in the modern game, Eriksen is genuinely two-footed, and able to hit a ball from long range with either foot. This makes him hugely dangerous when he takes on his favoured skill of running at defenders with pace. Already being lauded as the best Danish prospect since the Laudrups, it is easy to see why. He has an excellent passing range, whilst his free-kick taking is coming along very well - but he is a huge danger in the last third with his shooting ability. Although a midfielder by trade Eriksen's finishing ability is excellent. His progression has been that rapid that he was handed his Denmark debut against Austria earlier this month and he could very well be in the frame to make the flight to South Africa.

The scout says...

A big, big talent and not surprising that Barcelona are still tracking him whilst Arsenal are also said to be showing an interest. Likely to be given time to progress at Ajax, but looks to have a huge future ahead of him and the bigger boys could come calling sooner rather than later.
