Will Goldberg beat Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship at Fastlane? We take a look back at his previous title wins in WCW and WWE

Goldberg will be looking to land his second world title in WWE and third in total when he challenges Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship at Raw's Fastlane pay-per-view on Sunday night.

Having claimed the WCW Championship in his former promotion, the powerhouse headed to WWE in 2003 looking to land that company's top prize, doing so at Unforgiven later that year.

Scuppered at SummerSlam

Having debuted for WWE in March 2003 and gone on an undefeated streak, beating the likes of The Rock, Christian, Ric Flair, Randy Orton and Chris Jericho along the way, Goldberg received his first televised title shot inside the Elimination Chamber at SummerSlam in August.

The powerhouse dominated the bout, eliminating Orton following a spear and Shawn Michaels and Jericho after jackhammers, leaving just him and world heavyweight champion Triple H in the ring - sixth entrant Kevin Nash had been pinned earlier in the contest by Jericho.

Goldberg speared The Game through his pod and, subsequently, out of the Chamber, but that allowed Triple H's manager, Flair, to hand his pal a sledgehammer. The cerebral assassin clubbed Goldberg with it as he attempted a spear, before completing a title-retaining pin.

Champion at Unforgiven

Goldberg exacted revenge for that defeat, and a post-match beat-down from Triple H, Flair and Orton that saw him handcuffed to the Chamber and walloped with the sledgehammer, by taking the title in a high-stakes match at the following month's pay-per-view.

Had Goldberg lost, he would have been forced to retire from professional wrestling, but that scenario did not unfold, with the former NFL star executing a spear and a jackhammer to triumph after The Game had countered an initial spear with a facebreaker knee smash.

Goldberg successfully defended the championship the next night, against Jericho, before coming through challenges from Mark Henry and Michaels in the weeks ahead.

Surviving Triple H's challenge

After Goldberg was injured at the hands of Batista - The Animal smashing his ankle with a steel chair - Raw's co-General Manager, Eric Bischoff, was set to hand Triple H the title. That was until the other Raw boss, Stone Cold Steve Austin, confirmed Goldberg would be fit to defend his prize.

The latest instalment in the Triple H-Goldberg rivalry came at Survivor Series, with The Game targeting his rival's ankle and receiving help from buddies, Flair, Orton, and Batista - until Goldberg blasted each of them with a sledgehammer and pinned Triple H to retain.

Kane enables Triple H

Goldberg soon had a new enemy - Kane. The Big Red Monster jumped his fellow big man on Raw, including when he was defending the strap against Triple H, leading to Bischoff sanctioning a Triple Threat encounter at Armageddon in December 2003.

The champion was smashed onto the announce desk by both of his opponents but recovered to nail Triple H with a spear, before Kane broke up the pin attempt and chokeslammed him. Batista then yanked Kane out of the ring, allowing The Game to cover Goldberg and take back the title.
