Verdict

Albero Di Giuda would have claims from today's mark if able to reproduce his form from the artificial surfaces on this faster ground, but that seems unlikely and a moderate contest can instead go the way of DARCY'S PRIDE, while Port Ronan looks a danger. The last-named got off the mark at the 21st time of asking when taking a Redcar maiden handicap last time out over the minimum trip. A 6lb penalty will ask further questions, while he also has the dreaded low draw, so the percentage call is to oppose. Rio Sands has to enter calculations from a mark 1lb lower than his sole handicap success, with trip, ground and trainer form all positives, and he is respected. Even so, Darcy's Pride has a good pitch in stall 14 and he also has conditions and this minimum distance as he likes. He showed at Pontefract last time that a stiff 5f is right up his street and he can enjoy further success today.
