Verdict

GABRIAL THE HERO put his rivals to the sword with ease at Haydock on Thursday, making all and striding away to score unchallenged. This is a tougher assignment but he's clearly in great heart and his young apprentice rider, who rode three winners from just 14 rides last term, offsets the penalty picked up for that success. Expect another front-running display around these tight turns. Gabrial's King, in the same ownership, seems better on an artificial surface so Singalat looks the main threat. He didn't run at all badly on unsuitable ground at Pontefract last time and should relish these quicker conditions. Similar comments apply to Enery but this dramatic step up in trip is also a step into the unknown for the ex-Godolphin inmate, now with Mark Johnston. Tidal Way will find this easier than when unplaced in last week's London Gold Cup at Newbury and is not discounted.
