In depth

Verdict

SHRAAOH’s close second in a valuable handicap at Goodwood last year is solid form, and although he’s been off the track since August, Sir Michael Stoute is sure to have him in peak condition for this. There are major doubts about most of his market rivals, including Gawdawpalin, who seemed to struggle with the camber over course and distance last time, and Whinging Willie, who looks short of the required class. Carntop weakened badly in the Buckhounds Stakes at Ascot and is one to be wary of at the moment, while Green Light is on a lower mark than when he won this last year but has been out of sorts this spring. There may be more to come from the lightly-raced Spinners Ball and he can fight out the minor places with Soldier In Action who was effective at this level before spending the winter hurdling.
