Lucky Beggar could be a serious player here if returning to his best, as could last year’s winner Blaine, but preference is for NAGGERS (NAP). He’s won four of his last six and although he’s gone up 10lb for an eye-catching victory at Thirsk, he’s clearly still improving and can take a weak looking contest for the grade. Watchable ran well in a decent race at York last time out, but his losing run stretches back to 2014, while Paddy Power’s best performances so far have been over 5 furlongs. George Bowen and B Fifty Two are well handicapped on their best form but both appear to be out of sorts at the moment and are best watched, as is Sir Ottoman who won a good three-year-old handicap at Chantilly last year but ran poorly on his UK debut.

Sir Ottoman (FR) 40-1 (9-7) In rear, pushed along and stumbled over 1f out, never a factor, 9th of 11, 6 1/2l behind El Astronaute (9-0) at Newmarket 5f hcp (3) gf in Apr.
