In depth

Verdict

Quick Jack won this a year ago for Tony Martin with Denis O'Regan on board. He's only run on the Flat subsequently and is 12lb higher than a year ago and the trainer may have a better chance with PYROMANIAC, who has last year's winning rider in the saddle. There's no doubt he would be a very controversial winner after the 42-day ban he received following his recent run on the Flat at Killarney was overturned earlier this week but he's been laid out for this and his overall form suggests he's capable of landing the spoils. Dan Skelton's Superb Story was having his first start since November when landing the Grade 3 County Hurdle at Cheltenham in March so the lack of a recent run is no problem for the very progressive five-year-old. Clondaw Warrior represents Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh and he's a very smart performer who scored on the Flat at this meeting a year ago and was placed in the Grade 2 Scottish Champion Hurdle Handicap at Ayr in April. The champion trainer also runs Bamako Moriviere, who is improving at a rate of knots but faces a very stiff task. Silver Concorde looked to have an outstanding chance in a maiden here yesterday and he's on such a lenient mark these days that even a penalty shouldn't prevent a big run.
