A progressive type has often won this race so it would be no surprise to see Nice Thoughts figuring on his first foray into handicaps. The assessor has had plenty of chance to look at SWIFT CEDAR but David Evans' gelding kept on stoically enough over the trip at Pontefract, and his apprentice's claim can make the difference. Love Marmalade is an infrequent scorer though he has returned back to a feasible mark. King Of Paradise is no stranger to the Merseyside track and Eric Alston's charge is retried in blinkers having disappointed badly on his latest visit. Le Deluge is 4lb below his last winning mark on turf so he should not be discounted too lightly. Quest Of Colour and Stoked have shown their better form with plenty of give underfoot.
