In depth

Verdict

The trio for the shortlist are PEOPLETON BROOK, Westwood Dawn and The Happy Hammer with the vote going to Peopleton Brook. The selection has yet to win on the all-weather but he went close over 6f here last time when he chased home Sam's Cross. He is bred to be suited by this extra furlong and if he gets home okay then he should prove tough to beat. Westwood Dawn has finished second on each of his last three starts and although he is entitled to be thereabouts at the finish, it is worth noting that he was well beaten on his only previous try over today's trip. The Happy Hammer ran his best race for a while at Wolverhampton earlier in the month, but the simple fact is he looks better suited by a slightly longer trip than this. Purus has got course and distance form so he is another to consider. However, for the winner we are happy to stick with Peopleton Brook.
