Verdict

An interesting contest in which the reliable and consistent Mailshot sets a decent standard. He's rarely far away, has a course win to his name and seems certain to be competitive. However, there are some potentially fair sorts in opposition and a chance is taken with ROYAL OPERA HOUSE, one of two Jamie Osborne representatives on whom Jane Elliott claims a very handy 7lb allowance. The Royal Applause colt impressed in landing a Chelmsford maiden in December and could prove better than her mark here. Stable companion Blaze Of Glory is unexposed too, whilst Espresso Freddo has be taken very seriously if asked to follow up his Newcastle success a couple of days ago. Spirit Of Sarwan and Lord Clenaghcastle are both out of the handicap which will make life tougher, especially as both reappear after a break.
