In depth

Verdict

MARY HELEN has been in great form and she looks worth sticking with here; the list of dangers is headed by Magic Spirit and During The War. Mark Brisbourne's filly finished the year on a roll and she was only narrowly beaten at Kempton last month by Glen Lass. She came up against an unexposed sort that day and with the return to this longer trip in her favour she can regain the winning thread. Magic Spirit hinted at ability on her debut here when she finished eighth of 11 in a maiden over 1m. She is bred to appreciate this longer trip and she is one to note in the market. During The War brought up the tail here last time but that was a better race than this and he is bred to appreciate this longer trip. Richard Hannon's runner Mactrac finished behind our selection at Kempton in November and it is hard to see him turning the tables today. We will therefore nominate Mary Helen who remains a filly to stay on the right side of.
