Verdict

ROYAL DEFENCE won over 1m6f at Wolverhampton before going close over 2m at the same track. He gets the vote with an accomplished amateur on board. Frosty Berry won at Newcastle last time and was placed under today's rider at Thirsk last season while Aleksandar returned to something like his best when a runner-up over a shorter trip here on his latest start. Vicky Valentine ran well at Ayr over 1m5f on her reappearance and is worth another try at 2m.
