In depth

Verdict

Lights of Vegas probably has the best form of the two to have raced previously but there are some interesting newcomers in opposition with marginal preference for Thabaat, who gets the vote ahead of Forefathers. The last mentioned has a fast ground pedigree and any further rain would be of concern for Michael Bell's colt. The Michael Jarvis-trained Prince Forever makes appeal on pedigree being a son of Giant's Causeway, while Richard Hannon's Red Ransom colt Private Reason is another worth consideration. The vote though goes to the Barry Hills-trained Thabaat, who is by soft ground influence Pivotal and from a yard that can ready one first time out.
