SURPRISE PARTY races under a penalty, but we think she can overcome that to complete a hat-trick, at the expense of likely dangers Farleigh and Pegasus Lad. Back to back wins at Yarmouth in a lower grade mean Chris Wall's filly comes here as joint top-weight, but with the best recent form in the locker. Expect her to be ridden patiently by George Baker who did the steering on the previous victories; being turned out again quickly looks a good idea given that she'll be going up in the weights again shortly, and may then be in the grip of the handicapper. Farleigh did well to be placed on handicap debut last time out, from a poor draw at Windsor and on soft ground. The drop in grade may produce a better result. Pegasus Lad has dropped down the weights to a competitive mark, with his best effort in a year coming here last time out when runner up in a lower grade race. You ignore Mark Johnston's runners at your peril though. However we'll side with the in-form Surprise Party.
