In depth

Verdict

Mick Channon has been firing in the winners lately and can do so again here with Al Raahi, with Dubai Magic, Frosty Night and Raincoat others for the shortlist. As always in these types of contest caution is advised with so many debutantes in action, but Al Raahi is bred to go well over this sort of trip at two and from a plumb draw and with his yard going well he gets the nod. Frosty Magic may prove popular, but although Mark Johnston's yard are coming back a bit they are still not fully firing and the coly may need this. Dubai Magic sets the standard of those who have experience with his third of eight at Lingfield last week and improvement should be forthcoming, while Raincoat has the look of one whose two-year-old achievements will be a bonus as more is expected as an older horse. But Al Raahi looks like being tuned up for his debut and can take this.
