    Verdict

Lucky Mellor and MAHIKI have both recorded course and distance victories in the past but it is the latter that gets the nod here; Mr Smithson also makes the shortlist. The selection was a winner here when last seen and seemed to enjoy her first start at the track. It was her first career win and she looks more than capable of reapeating that success. Lucky Mellor, a winner here back at the start of May, looks like being the selections biggest threat. The colt's form since that win has been a little questionable but he is another who clearly enjoys it here and should again do well. Mr Smithson has looked poor on the last couple of attempts but, in a race of this quality, a finish among the front three is not beyond him and, if he can recapture some of the form he showed at Carlisle and Catterick earlier this year, he should make the money. Mind The Monarch will pounce on any mistakes made by the earlier mentioned but his recent form does not amount to much. It could be close between the two who have recently won over this trip but we will side with Mahiki.
