In depth

Verdict

Aphorism, Speagle and Opera Writer are the three for the shortlist in this tight handicap and the vote is given to Speagle. The selection is in cracking form and he could still be on the upgrade as he won in game fashion in this grade last time when getting the better of One Night In Paris. He is stepped-up in trip today which should suit and he stands out as the one to beat. Aphorism is a well-related filly and she scored impressively over the course and distance last time when beating Stagecoach Emerald. She has more on her plate today but there may be more to come and she is respected. Opera Writer looks to be on a handy mark at present and he ran well enought behind Melvino last time to suggest his turn would not be far away. Russian Dream may prove best of the rest, but for the winner we are happy to stick with Speagle who is taken to complete the hat-trick.
