In depth

Verdict

Night Prospector's spate of recent wins may have just caught up with him, and so he is reluctantly passed over in favour of California Laws. The selection dotted up here at Southwell last month, and although he has taken a hike in the weights, he could be capable of following up today. He travels well in his races so the drop back to six furlongs shouldn't pose too much of a problem. Night Prospector has been in fine form recently however he is racing off a career-high mark, although he was hampered in his last race so that run should be taken with a pinch of salt. Other dangers to the selection could come from recent winner Sahara Silk, although it could be argued that he is slightly better over the minimum trip, whilst Winning Pleasure could easily run into a place. In a competitive little race, the tentative vote goes to California Laws.
