Verdict

EVERYBODY KNOWS can return with a bang to land this at the main expense of South Cape and Play It Sam. Our pick won by six lengths over course and distance last time, his first start of the season, and looks an improved performer since being gelded over the winter. Up 10lbs for his return this is tougher, but the horse has a fine record fresh, likes it here and is tactically versatile. Laudatory, who he beat last time, is trained by Walter Swinburn so market support for Play It Sam would be interesting. He was a beaten favourite off this mark last time but ran well considering he missed the break, as the gelding likes to dominate. Its possible Play It Sam and Everybody Knows could engage in a destructive battle for the lead but in the hope they don't the pair can dominate, with South Cape best of the rest. Mick Channon's charge is nothing if not versatile having won on all types of grounds at a variety of tracks, so conditions here should be fine in any case. He's won off higher marks in the past too and arrives on the back of a fair third at Goodwood so can't be ruled out. Directorship only has a maiden success to his name so whilst that was in a warm heat he's opposable, especially as the four-year-old has been creeping up the weights in defeat of late. Cyflymder was beaten too far last time to be of interest despite a declining handicap rating, The Which Doctor finished last on his most recent start so is also opposed despite being down to his last winning mark and The Scorching Wind is better on artificial surfaces. Conditions here look ideal for Everybody Knows and he can show why with a win.
