Verdict

This doesn't look a strong contest so watch the market for support surrounding the newcomers, of which Pebble Beech makes most appeal, but without that guide we'll side with the promising AKHMATOVA. Tom Queally's mount cost 90,000gns and is related to smart performers over slightly further, but for now this trip should be fine and she caught the eye when fifth on debut. The form of that Salisbury contest hasn't yet been tested but this race looks no stronger on paper and normal improvement will see her go very close indeed. Pebble Beech perhaps wouldn't want the ground like a road ahead of her debut but otherwise makes plenty of appeal, as the first foal of a dam whose sister has produced several high-class types, including the outstanding Henrythenavigator. In an apparently weak affair she looks interesting and needs a look in the market. Profligate has shown bits and pieces of promise and should be suited by dropping back to a mile, whilst Spirit Of Darley can be forgiven a poor debut at Southwell and should offer much more here. Trendy Way is another newcomer to make some appeal but she'll do better for this experience one would imagine while Converre looks the yard's second-string, understandable given she finished behind her companion first time out. Watch the market before placing a bet here but Akhmatova is the form pick and remains capable of better, so makes plenty of appeal.
