England and Saracens prop Mako Vunipola will have a scan on his injured knee this week and is a major doubt for the Six Nations.
Vunipola suffered a knee ligament injury playing for Saracens before Christmas and will only see a specialist this week.
He is unlikely to be fit for England's Six Nations opener against France on February 4 and his participation in the tournament will depend on the severity of the damage.
The 25-year-old played in every game of England's unbeaten year, helping them to a Grand Slam and a series whitewash in Australia under Eddie Jones.
His absence would add to Jones' problems in the front-row with fellow loosehead Joe Marler also a doubt for the start of the Six Nations with a calf injury.
Brother Billy, who plays at No 8, is set to miss the entire tournament after surgery on the knee injury he suffered playing for England against Argentina in November while former captain Chris Robshaw was ruled out on Monday after undergoing shoulder surgery.
