Wales to face Waikato Chiefs during New Zealand tour

Wales will play a match against the Waikato Chiefs during their tour to New Zealand next year.

The match will be played at Hamilton on June 14, between the first and second Tests of a three-Test series against the All Blacks.

Test matches have already been confirmed for Auckland on June 11, Wellington on June 18 and Dunedin on June 25.

Wales coach Warren Gatland played 140 matches for Waikato province and later coached the team. He was also a technical adviser to the Chiefs before taking the Wales position.

Gatland said the match will be "a great opportunity to have further game time together ahead of the second and third Tests against the All Blacks".
