There were no medals for Team GB to celebrate on day 12 of the Olympic Games but only because the Rio weather proved too nice.
Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark were due to have their final race in the women's 470 regatta but light winds on a hot day in Brazil meant that was put back to Thursday.
Mills and Clark only need to finish the final race to secure Britain's 20th gold medal.
Another medal was guaranteed by the women's hockey team, who beat New Zealand 3-0 in their semi-final to secure at least a silver.
There was no luck for Great Britain in the Olympic Stadium where Cindy Ofili came closest to an athletics medal in finishing fourth in the women's 100m hurdles.
Mo Farah overcame a late trip to reach the 5,000m final and keep his 'double double' hopes alive and he was joined in qualification by Andy Butchart.
But there will be no repeat of the Bolt-Justin Gatlin showdown after the American failed to reach the final, coming home third in his semi to miss out.
Nick Skelton and Ben Maher secured places in the individual showjumping final on Friday.
Britain failed to make the final of the team event, where gold went to the French quartet of Philippe Rozier, Kevin Staut, Roger Yves Bost and Penelope Leprevost.
Brazil are into the final of the men's football tournament after they thrashed Honduras 6-0 and they will take on Germany for a gold medal on Saturday.
Liam Heath and Jon Schofield will fancy their chances of gold in the men's 200m K2 kayak sprint after qualifying fastest for Thursday's final.
And Rajiv Ouseph's quest for a badminton medal was ended at the quarter-final stage when he went down 21-12 21-16 to Viktor Axelsen of Denmark.
