Amar Mehta is a News Editor at Sky Sports News.
He predominantly covers football news, including transfers. Before joining Sky Sports, Amar spent several years as a business journalist, specialising in the business of football, with a particular focus on legal issues.
His stories include breaking the news that Manchester United and England defender Harry Maguire received a 15-month suspended sentence in Greece, and reporting that Amit Bhatia was interested in buying a stake in Liverpool FC.
Amar also covers cricket, bringing extensive knowledge of Indian cricket to Sky Sports News. Alongside his day-to-day role, he mentors aspiring journalists through the John Schofield Trust and the NCTJ. In 2024, he was named in the MHP 30 Under 30 Journalists to Watch list in the sports category.
He joined Sky Sports News in September 2022 as a multi-sports journalist. Previously, Amar worked at Sky News, The Lawyer and Newsquest.
