David Haye says if Anthony Joshua keeps winning then he is destined to face him in the future

Heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua and David Haye have admitted that their 'paths will cross' in the future.

Former WBA champion Haye will be keeping a close eye on Joshua as he battles Whyte for the British and Commonwealth titles this Saturday at The O2, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Haye, who is working as a Sky Sports pundit, attended the pre-fight weigh-in and there was mutual respect when he was joined by Joshua.

But the 'Hayemaker' accepted that a future fight with Joshua is inevitable, if both stay on course for world titles.

Without a doubt our paths are going to cross whether it is for a world title, an eliminator for a world title.

"He does everything he needs to do to get the victories," said Haye, who makes his comeback against Mark de Mori on January 16.

"He's in fantastic condition, a former Olympic champion, he's fighting undefeated fighters, and the last one he fought he knocked him out pretty cleanly.

"This for me is going to show exactly where he is. If he can do the same type of performance as he done in his last fight, that says he is one of the best heavyweights on the planet.

"Hopefully I get through my fights, he gets through his fights. Without a doubt our paths are going to cross whether it is for a world title, or an eliminator for a world title. If he keeps doing what he's doing, there is no doubt that we will fight at some stage."

Joshua echoed Haye's words and believes he will one day share the ring with the 35-year-old, but firstly must overcome Whyte.

"As he said, as a fighting mentality we both have got work to do beforehand, but some time down the line our paths will cross," he said.

"Whatever it's for, you've got two great athletes, so you heard it here first."

Joshua vs Whyte is exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office, December 12, and is now available to order via your Sky remote or online.
