Luke Campbell believes that he has finally found the missing piece to his puzzle in trainer Jorge Rubio.
Campbell (13-1-KO11), a 2012 Olympic gold medallist, will face former world champion Argenis Mendez in Leeds this Saturday as part of a huge night of boxing live on Sky Sports. The pair will battle for the vacant WBC Silver lightweight title.
It is a tough fight for the Hull southpaw who faced the first loss of his career in December at the hands of Frenchman Yvan Mendy.
He has since linked up with Cuban Rubio, the former trainer of David Haye, Amir Khan and Guillermo Rigondeaux, and has based himself in the heat of Miami to reignite his world title challenge.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Saturday's fight, Campbell said: "This is a great fight and the fans are in for a treat. It's a good opportunity to establish myself well in the division.
"Moving out to Miami has been hard as I've had to leave my wife and family for eight weeks at a time, but I want to give boxing my all. I want to be the best.
"It's not about being in Miami, I go there to train with Jorge. He could be anywhere in the world and I would go.
"Miami is brilliant and many greats including Muhammad Ali have trained there. The sparring as well is of the highest quality. The sun is always shining but training six days a week, I don't have time to do anything else."
While Campbell got back to winning ways by stopping Gary Sykes in the second round of their March bout, he knows he is in for a much tougher test against his Dominican counterpart, once the IBF super-featherweight world champion.
"We know Mendez is a quality fighter, but we are ready for whatever he brings on fight night," Campbell added. "We've been training hard and I feel really good. Jorge has put me through my paces so I can't wait to just hear that first bell now."
