Okolie vs Chamberlain: Kell Brook warns Ted Cheeseman about his former opponent Carson Jones
Thursday 1 February 2018 08:15, UK
Kell Brook says Ted Cheeseman may have to come through "a scare or two" when he battles his former opponent Carson Jones.
The dangerous American is expected to pose the sternest test of Cheeseman's unbeaten career on the undercard for Lawrence Okolie's fight with Isaac Chamberlain at The O2 on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.
Brook shared a punishing clash with Jones before claiming a majority decision win in 2012, then halted the Oklahoma man in the rematch, and is full of respect for his old foe.
"Jones is going to be right in his face, trying to get into his head before the fight," Brook told Sky Sports.
"He will be pushing and shoving him at the weigh-in, talking all sorts of stuff, so that will be something Cheeseman probably isn't used to.
"Yes Jones has been in with some very, very good fighters and has that experience, but the other side is that he is probably on the way down.
"But it's one of those, if he turns up, fit and ready, he is going to give Cheeseman hell.
"There will be drama in the fight but I can see it going the distance and I can certainly give the young guy a scare or two."
Jones also holds a win over Brian Rose and inflicted a first defeat to Ben Hall on his most recent trip to Britain in November 2016.
Brook, who returns to the ring at 154lbs against Sergey Rabchenko live on Sky Sports on March 3, expects Cheeseman to remember his own encounter with Jones.
"We will have to wait and see what shape Jones is in, but either way Cheeseman is going to learn a lot from it," he said.
"I am going to go with him on points and this will be one to watch. A lot depends on the state Jones is in, but I hope he does it."
