Antonio Tarver and Steve Cunningham battled out a heavyweight draw in New Jersey on Friday night.
The pair, who have both been world champions at lower weight levels, produced a non-stop scrap that went back and forth for the full 12 rounds.
There was nothing to choose between them and both were given 115-113 scores with the third judge settling for 114-114, to confirm a decision draw.
Tarver (31-6-1-KO22) who is best-known for a stunning second round knock out of Roy Jones Jr that saw him become unified world light-heavyweight champion back in 2004, made the better start.
He landed a sharp right in the fourth round that had Cunningham (28-7-1-KO13) wobbling but the former cruiserweight world champion managed to hang on to regain his composure and eventually come back firing.
Cunningham then gave as good as he got, swapping blows with Tarver for the remaining eight all-action rounds. Both fighters expected to be given the nod after the final bell..
But the draw was called and even with 'Magic Man' Tarver at the ripe old age of 46 and 'USS' Cunningham now 39, a rematch could well be on the cards.
