We've got less than three weeks to wait before Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao and our very own Johnny Nelson simply can't wait...
I’m living a dream by attending this fight. This is modern-day history.
I’m going out on the Monday before the fight, and fight week will be the best thing I’ve ever been to. The press conference in Los Angeles was wicked, so fight week will be on a different level!
The build-up will be an unbelievable event in itself. I know people who will want to go and aren’t bothered by the fight. They just want to be out there. I’ve had so many people asking me about how to get over there!
People from all around the world will want to go to the weigh-ins and the other events in fight week which means every single day will be something special.
This will join the list of fights that will make history – I’m talking about Ali-Frazier, Ali-Foreman and Foreman-Frazier. This is one of those fights, in years to come you’ll mention Mayweather-Pacquiao alongside those great fights.
This will inspire a new generation.
Behind the scenes
I’m going be out there listening to the gossip from both camps, hearing the whispers from the people behind the scenes. I’ll be speaking to people from both gyms.
It’s the background to every fight that tells the story and makes it interesting. I enjoy all of that because I was there, I used to be one of those fighters that everyone was asking questions of.
The stuff that was reported on the surface was nothing compared to what was happening in real life.
I’m able to take a step back now and I know what questions to ask the people who are involved in this fight.
Attitude
I love Pacquiao because he is just such a nice man. But Mayweather lives the life that I have been brought up on.
He lives in the gym even when he’s not fighting so he stays on top of his game and can never be surprised by something new that’s put to him.
I like Mayweather’s approach and his attitude to fighting because that’s what I understand.
I don’t understand Pacquiao, he’s like Prince Naseem. He disappears for months and only turns up eight weeks before a fight and I think ‘wow, how can you do that?’ To me, that’s not a great example for youngsters coming through but it works for him.
There’s no chance this fight will leave us disappointed because there’s too much on the line.
