Adam Smith and Johnny Nelson discuss the heavyweight division

Johnny Nelson wants to see Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury face each other in a heavyweight unification fight.

The Bronze Bomber will be defending his WBC world heavyweight title against Artur Szpilka in Brooklyn, New York next Saturday, live on Sky Sports.

Wilder (35-0-KO34) is making his third defence and even though WBO and WBA Super champion Fury has a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko scheduled as his next fight, Nelson is already hoping the pair can come together in a unification clash.

A showdown between Fury and Wilder could determine who is the best heavyweight on the planet.

"Deontay Wilder has been shouting he wants to fight Tyson Fury once he's had that defence, but for him, he is king of the hill," Nelson told Sky Sports News HQ.

"He thinks Tyson Fury shouldn't even belong in the same ring as him. In this defence he will want to put on a show, prove he is the real deal.

"I like [Wilder]. He's erratic, he's loud, he's brash and he's colourful, so him and Tyson Fury clashing, can you imagine the build-up for these two fighting?

"I hope he gets through this fight and Fury gets through his rematch with Klitschko because those two fighting would be so colourful."

Nelson also believes that Anthony Joshua could well go down the IBF title route, adding more British interest to the January 16 double-header.

Fury was stripped of the IBF belt within 11 days of beating Klitschko in Dusseldorf, which means No 1 contender Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-0-1-KO13) and Charles Martin (22-0-1-KO20) will be contesting it on the Wilder undercard.

Joshua is ranked fifth by the IBF, but with Erkan Teper ineligible to fight due to his two-year suspension, it could leave the British heavyweight hope the mandatory challenger once unbeaten Martin or Glazkov becomes champion.

And even though Joshua was taken seven rounds by bitter rival Dillian Whyte, Nelson believes that has proved he is ready to step up again.

"Of all the fights Anthony Joshua's had, we learned so much about him [in that fight]: his charatcer, his bottle, his heart, his desire," he said.

"When he got hit he didn't panic. We saw one or two chinks in his armour but they can be adjusted and he said afterwards, 'I'm not the finished article and I made some mistakes' and that's what you want to hear.

"It's great to hear and we are looking at improvements with Anthony Joshua.

"It's great preparation for potentially, you never know, the IBF heavyweight fight. That could be the future for Anthony Joshua."
