Gamal Yafai says winning the Commonwealth title will move him up the super-bantamweight ladder

Gamal Yafai is looking to win the Commonwealth title and move up the ladder in the bubbling British super-bantamweight division.
The younger brother of Kal challenges current domestic title holder Bobby Jenkins at the Genting Arena, Birmingham, on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.
Yafai (8-0-KO3) is only 24 but is ready to pick up his first title in only his ninth professional fight on the same night his big brothers fights for a world-title eliminator in the super-flyweight division.
And with Carl Frampton winning the unification showdown with Scott Quigg and Gavin McDonnell moving a step closer to a world-title shot of his own on the undercard, the man known as 'The Beast' is ready to move up a level himself.
"To be fighting for the Commonwealth title in your ninth fight is a bit early, but I think the time is right and the step up suits me," he told Sky Sports.
"It's a very good division right now. There's no point talking about Frampton because he's way ahead but in three or four years' time, I'd love to be mixing it with those type of guys.
"First though I need to make sure I win that belt. That is the perfect place to start."
Jenkins (9-1-1-KO2) will be making his first defence of the Commonwealth strap after picking up the vacant title by stopping Lewis Pettitt in the 11th round at the end of September.
Yafai has boxed once since then, taking the experienced Nasibu Ramadhani over 10 rounds to line-up the title challenge.
Jenkins, also 24, has had two more professional fights and with the title on the line, there seems to be little to choose between the two.
But Yafai has seen the Commonwealth champion fight before and expects their styles to match - in his favour.
"I think he's going to play right into my hands," he said.
"It's going to be a great fight. I can box him, I can fight him and he can only fight really - and he is open when he does that.
"He is vulnerable when he punches so it's going to be a good fight.
"I am looking forward to it. And I am looking forward to winning it."
Bobby Jenkins v Gamal Yafai is live on Sky Sports 1, 8.00pm, Saturday, on the undercard of Eggington v Skeete.
