Marcus Ffrench produced one of the evening's best knockouts to claim the vacant Midlands Area super-lightweight strap.

The 33-year-old from Birmingham took just 55 seconds to take local rival Michael Rooney apart and send him to his first defeat.

Ffrench (12-2-KO3) hammered home a heavy right in the first real exchange of the night to leave his opponent down.

Rooney made it up before the count finished but was in all sorts of bother when referee Kevin Parker called him over and rightly called the fight off.

It left Ffrench as one of the stars of a cracking night at the Genting Arena that saw both Yafai brothers, Kal and Gamal, produce fine finishes while plenty of prospects also looked good.

Belper welterweight Ryan Fields picked up a Midlands Area title of his own with a blistering fifth-round stoppage against Karl Wiggins.

Fields (8-2-1-KO4) had the local lad down in the fourth and although the bell came as soon as he had got off the floor, he was down again in the fifth, with no coming back.

Light-heavyweight Jake Ball is already making a name for himself and made it four KOs in as many fights as he finished Norbert Szekeres early in the second.

There was even a hard-fought win for the most experienced fighter on display, as twice Prizefighter finalist Cello Renda (28-11-2-KO12) beat Mike Byles on points over eight tough rounds.
