Anthony Crolla hopeful victory over Ismael Barroso can set up Las Vegas fight
Wednesday 4 May 2016 14:59, UK
Anthony Crolla wants to fight in Las Vegas for a second time if he overcomes Ismael Barroso on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.
The WBA world lightweight champion (30-4-3-KO12) outpointed Juan Montiel at the MGM Grand in 2011 on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather v Victor Ortiz and is keen on a return.
Ahead of making the first defence of his crown against hard-hitting Venezuelan Barroso (19-0-2-KO18) at Manchester Arena on Saturday night, Crolla was in high spirits.
He told Sky Sports: "There's nothing I love more than fighting in the Manchester Arena but a nice away day for the fans wouldn't go amiss so it's something I'd be willing to do.
"It would be nice to fight over there in Las Vegas. I fought there on a Floyd Mayweather undercard earlier on in my career.
"It was a great experience but that was in the middle of the afternoon so to be a bit higher up in a main event for a world title fight would be brilliant.
"There's only one Ricky Hatton and I don't think we'll ever see that kind of support again [in Las Vegas] but if I could have just a fraction of that with those crazy Mancs, that'd be brilliant."
Barroso made his UK debut in December when he stopped Kevin Mitchell inside four brutal rounds at The O2.
