Dillian Whyte has 'always wanted' to fight Dereck Chisora and says his compatriot acts up when the cameras are rolling.

Whyte (16-1-KO13) recently signed for Matchroom and at the ensuing press conference Chisora (25-6-KO17) appeared and sparked a war of words between the two that was caught on camera by several onlookers.

But Brixton's Whyte, who makes his return from shoulder surgery live on Sky Sports Box Office on the undercard of Anthony Joshua v Dominic Breazeale on June 25, is adamant Finchley fighter Chisora isn't as 'bad' as he makes out.

Whyte told Sky Sports: "He's an idiot. I played it cool and kept it professional. I bide my time and didn't want to go on the rampage too much.

"Dereck was screaming and shouting when the cameras were there but before the cameras were there, he wasn't. He's a strange guy; unpredictable and he gets in people's faces.

It's a fight I've always wanted. He goes on like he's a bad man, a hard man and erratic but that's all rubbish. I want to fight him.

"I told him that he should meet me without any cameras and without any boxing officials. If he wants to go on like a bad man, screaming and shouting when there are cameras there then he shouldn't have a problem doing it when there are no cameras there. He backed down.

On a potential bout with Chisora, Whyte added: "It's a fight I've always wanted. He goes on like he's a bad man, a hard man and erratic but that's all rubbish. I want to fight him and end his career because I think the fans are tired of him stinking out the venues.

Whyte is already rehearsing his battle cry

"It could be for a British title or a world title eliminator, I'll wait and see, but I definitely want to fight him and beat him up. Domestically, it's a big fight and everyone knows it's a big fight.

"I have sparred loads of rounds with Dereck. I literally came off the street and had no boxing experience when I first sparred him. Ask Spencer Fearon how that one went - he was there and he'll tell you."

Chisora was last in action on May 7 when he suffered a split decision defeat to Kubrat Pulev with the European heavyweight title on the line.
