Joe Calzaghe is pleased that Britain continues to flourish in the super-middleweight division.

It is a division in which Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Richie Woodhall, Robin Reid, Carl Froch and Calzaghe himself have all prospered and achieved world glory.

Now, DeGale leads the latest crop of Brits – including George Groves and Callum Smith – in heading up the world rankings and Calzaghe is pleased to see the continued success.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, he said: “It is great for British boxing and great to have had so many fighters come through at the super-middleweight limit over the years.

“DeGale is leading the way and then you’ve got Groves, who has been unfortunate on a few occasions, he could have already won a world title, but I fancy him to do so soon.

“Smith looks strong and is up-and-coming, we’re just waiting for his acid test - it’s different when you fight for a world title.
