Gavin McDonnell says he fully deserves his WBC world title shot and he will fight for every round when he faces Rey Vargas on Saturday.

Gavin McDonnell and Rey Vargas weighed-in comfortably within the super-bantamweight limit ahead of Saturday night’s world title fight.

McDonnell weighed 8st 8lbs 8oz, just 8oz heavier than his Mexican opponent before they contest the vacant WBC title, live on Sky Sports from 8pm on Saturday night.

Doncaster's McDonnell will top the bill as an underdog in his first world title fight, but has warned the unbeaten Vargas not to expect an easy night.

"People and fighters say to me, you look easy, you don't hit hard, and then they get in and have a bit of a shock," McDonnell told Sky Sports.
