Anthony Crolla was left to consider what might have been after losing to Jorge Linares for a second time on Saturday.
Crolla, fighting in front of his home crowd in Manchester, was attempting to regain the WBA lightweight title he lost to his Venezuelan opponent in September 2016.
Crolla overcame a seventh-round knockdown, but could not find a way back into the contest.
Linares once again claimed a unanimous points victory to inflict on Crolla the sixth defeat of his professional career.
