Haskins vs Burnett: Stuart Hall would happily challenge Ryan Burnett if he wins IBF belt in Belfast
Friday 9 June 2017 12:54, UK
Stuart Hall is backing Ryan Burnett to rip the IBF title from former opponent Lee Haskins as he would happily battle the Belfast man in his hometown.
The 37-year-old will be watching with interest when Haskins defends the IBF bantamweight belt against Burnett at the Odyssey Arena on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.
Hall was denied the chance to regain his old title when he suffered a contentious points defeat to Haskins last September and believes he should be rightfully facing Burnett this weekend.
"Haskins got lucky with the judges in my eyes. It should be me and Ryan Burnett definitely, I should be the champion," Hall told Sky Sports.
"In all honesty, I have watched that fight twice, that's it. I watched it the first time and I thought 'oh my god, I really did win it,' then I had to watch it again and in my eyes I won it again.
"I'm going to watch the fight with Ryan Burnett, because I haven't really seen much of Ryan Burnett. I've just heard all the hype that he's going to be the next big thing.
"He's a young and hungry fighter and we'll see how good he is on Saturday."
The Darlington man is preparing for his next fight in Newcastle on Friday June 23, live on Sky Sports, and would be willing to challenge Burnett in his own backyard.
"I should be the real champion, so if the winner has got any integrity then he should fight me," said Hall.
"Burnett maybe thinks I'm past it, I'm an old man, and it would make for an easy fight for him. I'll happily come to Belfast.
"I do agree it's probably my last chance saloon. I know if Haskins does win he won't fight me, because he knows how hard I am and he knows I won the last fight.
"Realistically we are all 'Team Burnett' for this fight. I've still got a little bit to give in this sport. Stuart Hall can turn up and cause a big upset anywhere."
Watch Ryan Burnett challenge IBF bantamweight champion Lee Haskins in Belfast this Saturday from 8pm on Sky Sports 2.
