Battle of the Mersey: Rocky Fielding hopes victory over David Brophy leads to Tyron Zeuge WBA shot

Rocky Fielding wants a crack at WBA super-middleweight world champion Tyron Zeuge should he beat David Brophy later this month.

British champion Fielding takes on Scotland's Brophy, the Commonwealth titleholder, at Liverpool's Echo Arena on September 30, live on Sky Sports.

The contest will be Fielding's first defence of the title he won by narrowly beating John Ryder over 12 rounds back in April and the 30-year-old hopes a convincing victory over Brophy could lead to him getting a shot at WBA 'regular' champion Zeuge.

"I said to [promoter] Eddie (Hearn) 'Get me Tyrone if I put in a good performance and get the win' and he got back saying he's on it," the Liverpudlian told Boxing Scene. "So, hopefully I'll get him or a European title shot.

"Some of the champions at super-middleweight are in the World Boxing Super Series so I probably would get a chance of fighting Zeuge that way rather than waiting around until next year as they're all tied up.

"The good thing is that Zeuge has not gone in the tournament so we will see."
