Dominic Breazeale has agreed to face replacement opponent Eric Molina, despite an offer to fight Dillian Whyte on the Anthony Joshua-Kubrat Pulev bill.
Breazeale was originally due to take on Bermane Stiverne in New York on November 4, but the WBC have ordered Deontay Wilder to make his next world heavyweight title defence against the Haitian, his mandatory challenger, after Luis Ortiz failed a drug test.
Promoter Eddie Hearn had hoped the American could battle Whyte on the Joshua bill in Cardiff on October 28, live on Sky Sports Box Office, although Breazeale has opted to remain on the Brooklyn card and fight Molina.
Both US-based fighters have shared the ring with Joshua, who stopped Molina in the third round in Manchester last December, a few months after he halted Breazeale at The O2.
Breazeale put his career back on track with a knockout of Izuagbe Ugonoh, which saw him climb off the canvas to produce a dramatic victory.
And Molina returned with a win last month as he claimed a six-round points decision over Jamal Woods.
