Caroline Dubois has welcomed an explosive battle with Alycia Baumgardner

Alycia Baumgardner has inflamed her rivalry with Caroline Dubois by insisting a future fight would only be a 'lateral move' for her career.

Dubois faces British rival Terri Harper in a world lightweight title unification clash at Olympia in London on Sunday April 5, live on Sky Sports, and the Londoner has admitted she is 'chasing' a showdown with Baumgardner.

But Baumgardner, who dramatically stopped Harper when she first became a world champion in 2021, has aimed a fresh dig at Dubois.

Asked about facing the Dubois vs Harper winner, Baumgardner told Sky Sports: "I don't adjust my trajectory based on other people.

"I'm focused on legacy - not lateral moves."

Dubois had previously welcomed an explosive encounter with America's unified world super-featherweight title holder.

"I will definitely go undisputed [at lightweight] and I will chase the Alycia Baumgardner fight," she told Sky Sports last month.

"The Alycia Baumgardner fight, that's a huge name," she added. "I'd be fighting her in her prime.

"She likes to be in control of things. She likes to feel like she can dominate. She's got that mentality.

"You've got me, a young kid coming through who's not going to allow her to do that, allow her to speak to me in any type of way or dictate to me. I believe I'm better than her so this is not going to happen.

"I think you're going to get that clash that always happens with personalities."

Baumgardner became the undisputed super-featherweight champion by defeating Mikaela Mayer on points in 2022.

In her most recent win, she floored Leila Beaudoin on the way to a points victory in December, but she ruled out watching Dubois vs Harper from ringside amid speculation of a fight against Dubois.

"It's an interesting stylistic clash," Baumgardner told Sky Sports.

"You have power and momentum on one side, and experience and composure on the other.

"Fights like this show levels."

Harper is a three-weight world champion, while Dubois turned professional after competing at the highest level in the amateur ranks, but Baumgardner believes the two Brits could struggle to keep their composure in a high profile clash.

"It comes down to discipline under pressure," said Baumgardner. "The fighter who controls the tempo and doesn't get emotional will win."

Harper vs Dubois is the co-main event on an epic bill that also features Ellie Scotney attempting to become undisputed super-bantamweight champion and Chantelle Cameron targeting a world super-welterweight title.
