Welshman tempted by bout with Pavlik

Joe Calzaghe has revealed that he might shelve his plans to retire after his September 20 showdown with Roy Jones Jnr. The undefeated Welshman had initially claimed that his bout with Jones at Madison Square Gardens would be his final contest. However Calzaghe has now confirmed that he will not give up his WBO super-middleweight title - and could even take on much-vaunted American Kelly Pavlik next year. Calzaghe, who won the WBO title in 1997 after defeating Chris Eubank, told The Times: "There is no way I am going to give up my WBO title. "I do not have a mandatory [challenger] at the moment so I do not have to defend my title. "If I beat Jones, I might move back down to super-middleweight to face Kelly Pavlik." Pavlik is the current unbeaten middleweight champion having twice beaten Jermain Taylor - and stopped Calzaghe's stable-mate Gary Lockett in three rounds in June.
