Postponements make grudge match a possibility, say Golden Boy
Shane Mosley could well be in for a dream showdown with Floyd Mayweather.
The WBA welterweight champion is seeking a new opponent after his January 30 showdown with WBC belt holder
Andre Berto was postponed after he lost family members in the Haiti earthquake disaster.
And with Mayweather's proposed March megafight with Manny Pacquiao falling by the wayside two weeks ago, moves are being made to put the long-time rivals in the ring at last.
"I'm going to do whatever I can to pull it off," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions.
"I'm cautiously optimistic we can put something together. It would be a great fight, a long-anticipated fight."
"Mayweather is interested and so, of course, is Shane. Now it's a matter of negotiating the right deal structure that makes everyone happy."
Mosley has made no secret of his desire to fight the man from Grand Rapids and called him out on TV immediately after Mayweather's comeback win over Juan Manuel Marquez.
Mayweather accused him of lacking respect and the pair almost came to blows before eventually shaking hands, although the bad blood remains.
