Ulsterman already has sights set on bigger things

Featherweight Martin Lindsay could be lining up a European title challenge if he gets past Jamie Arthur in Leigh on Friday night. Ulsterman Lindsay (15-0) will defend his British title for the first time at the Indoor Sports Village and is a hot favourite with the bookmakers to retain his unbeaten record. However, the 27-year-old is already next in line to challenge for Oleg Yefimovich's European championship and victory over Arthur should take him a step closer to the Ukrainian. But first he must get past Welshman Arthur, who has been successful in his last seven fights. "There is more than just a British title at stake for Lindsay," said promoter Frank Maloney. "The mandatory EBU challenger's spot is empty and Martin is the next ranked contender. "Yefimovich is world class, but from what I see in Martin I see a man who fears nobody. "Jamie is similar and to him a fight against Lindsay is like having a world title challenge in Las Vegas. It means the world to him. "He (Lindsay) is an all action fighter, but anybody who writes off Arthur would be mad. "It is a long time since I have seen a fighter so determined to win."
