Limond stopped inside five rounds by Morales

Brian Magee retained his European super-middleweight belt by stopping Roman Aramyan in Dublin. The Ulsterman won the vacant European strap on away turf in Aarhus, Denmark earlier this year when he stopped Mads Larsen in seven rounds. Armenian challenger Aramyan endured eight rounds of consistent punishment at the National Stadium before failing to emerge for the ninth. Meanwhile, in Mexico City Willie Limond's bid to beat ring legend Erik Morales lasted only as long as the fifth round of their non-title fight. Limond, who had knocked down Amir Khan in 2007 before losing, proved little more than a workout for El Terrible following the Mexican's decision to come out of retirement. The 31-year-old Glasgow fighter was put down three times with body shots in the fifth round before the contest was stopped. On Saturday Night in Las Vegas, Yuriorkis Gamboa maintained his unbeaten record with a unanimous decision over Orlando Salido in their WBA/IBF featherweight showdown. The official verdicts were all in favor of Gamboa as the judges' scorecards read 116-109, 114-109, 115-109.
