Mexican legends appear set to face-off in April

Erik Morales could be poised to bid for a fourth world title if talks with current WBA and WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez come to fruition in the next few days. 'El Terrible' is almost a year into a his comeback following a three-year 'retirement' and talks are close to being finalised for an all-Mexican clash in Las Vegas on April 9. Marquez has a number of options but after pricing himself out of a clash with Manny Pacquiao, 'El Dinamita' is likely to relish a fight with the former super-bantam, feather and super-featherwight champion. Morales had memorable trilogies with Marco Antonio Barrera and Pacquiao but a fight with countryman Marquez was never made. However, with both fighters nearing the end of their careers, a match-up at this stage makes sense. Marquez would enter the fight a warm favourite following his destruction of Michael Katsidis in November, while Morales would be getting the chance to become the first Mexican in history to win belts at four different weights.
